Overview

Did you ever want to correlate Wikipedia articles with geographic locations? You know, so you can figure out whose castle that is on the hill you just drove past, know whether there’s a natural or supernatural phenomenon nearby, or find a tiny museum in your neighborhood? With the Wikipedia Articles API, you can swiftly sift through ~300k Wikipedia entries to find articles by title and abstract content, filtered by geographic proximity. This API is a great way to explore your environment and find things you never even knew were there.

This API is part of the Infochimps Geo API.

The location of the content. Uses geographic coordinates extracted from Wikipedia.

A hash of foreign keys that indicate a ‘same_as’ relation to this record.

f.extended_properties

Properties extracted from Infoboxes by DBPedia. Learn more at http://bit.ly/dbpediaprops

f.md5id

An md5 hex digest that, together with the domain, uniquely identifies this record.

f._type

The name of this type. Typically only present when the record is serialized.

f._region

Region.

f.geo_geometry_type

Equivalent to geometry type in GeoJSON.

f.related_pages

Related Wikipedia pages, when available.

f.opencyc_link

Related link to OpenCyc, the open source version of the Cyc
