The figures presented here provide a snapshot of vacant dwellings in England. The data were extracted by Local Authorities from their Council Tax systems and information was collected on vacant dwellings, second homes, vacant dwellings for up to six months, vacant dwellings for up to twelve months for major repair works or alterations, long-term vacant dwellings and dwellings that qualify for a discount.
