Union Members, by Selected Characteristics: 2006

The Statistical Abstract files are distributed by the US Census Department as Microsoft Excel files. These files have data mixed with notes and references, multiple tables per sheet, and, worst of all, the table headers are not easily matched to their rows and columns.

A few files had extraneous characters in the title. These were corrected to be consistent. A few files have a sheet of crufty gibberish in the first slot. The sheet order was shuffled but no data were changed.

The tables that were changed (this is table 643):

This dataset consists of a table of 62 rows and 8 columns.

This is table 643 from the US Statistical Abstract about the topic Union Members, by Selected Characteristics: 2006

  1. Members of a labor union or an
employee association similar to a labor union.
  2. Members of a labor union or an employee association
similar to a union as well as workers who report no union affiliation
but whose jobs are covered by a union or an employee association
  3. For full-time employed wage and salary workers.
  4. Includes races not shown separately. Also includes a small
number of multiple jobholders whose full- and part-time status
can not be determined for their principal job.
  5. For persons in this race group only.
The 2003 Current Population Survey (CPS) allowed respondents to choose
more than one race. Beginning 2003, data represent persons who selected this race group
only and exclude persons reporting more than one race. The CPS in prior years only allowed
respondents to report one race group. See also comments on race in the text
    for Section 1, Population.
  6. Persons of Hispanic or Latino ethnicity may be of any race.
  7. For composition of industries, see Table 607.
