Dataset
Percent of Workers Participating in Health Care Benefit Programs
The Statistical Abstract files are distributed by the US Census Department as Microsoft Excel files. These files have data mixed with notes and references, multiple tables per sheet, and, worst of all, the table headers are not easily matched to their rows and columns.
A few files had extraneous characters in the title. These were corrected to be consistent. A few files have a sheet of crufty gibberish in the first slot. The sheet order was shuffled but no data were changed.
The tables that were changed (this is table 149):

This dataset consists of a table of 48 rows and 9 columns.
Based on National Compensation Survey, a sample survey of 10,370 private industry establishments of all sizes, representing over 103 million workers; see Appendix III. See also Table 634
Footnotes
- The average is presented for all covered workers and
excludes workers without the plan provision. Averages are for
plans stating a flat monthly cost. - Employees are classified as working either a full-time or
part-time schedule based on the definition used by each establishment. - Union workers are those whose wages are
determined through collective bargaining.
