Overview
Founded in 1920, the National Bureau of Economic Research is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of how the economy works.
The NBER is committed to undertaking and disseminating unbiased economic research among public policy makers, business professionals, and the academic community. The Bureau associates concentrate their research on developing new statistical measurements, estimating quantitative models of economic behavior, assessing the economic effects of public policies, and projecting the effects of alternative policy proposals.
The Bureau’s data is put into one of these categories, Macro, Industry, International Trade, Individual, Hospital, Demographic and Vital Statistics, Patent and Scientific Papers, and Other. Currently the NBER has listed business cycle memos, members, business cycle dates, current population survey, economic report of the president, new economic releases and vital statistics as their most frequently requested data.
